Athletes see records tumble on a sweltering Sports Day
One of the highlights of the academic year is the Spalding Academy Sports Day and on Tuesday 21st June 2022 we were treated to a glorious day of sunshine and calm conditions.
This sporting spectacular took place at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston, which is a purpose-built athletics stadium with a large spectator grandstand so everyone could watch and support their House when not competing themselves.
Over 300 students competed in a range of events such as the 100m, 200m, 3/400m, 800m, 1500m, Javelin, Shot Put, High Jump and Long Jump. The finale of the day was the 4 x 100m relay with boys and girls teams for Years 7 to 10.
Congratulations to the all of the students who took part and represented their Houses by putting in their best performances. The overall results for the Houses are as follows:
- 1st – McLaren House
- 2nd – Trinity House
- 3rd – Nova House
- 4th – Peake House
- 5th – Holland House
- 6th – Johnson House
