NHS careers session focusses on the four core areas of Nursing

One of the most rewarding and in-demand careers is working for the NHS. This week we welcomed Paediatric Nurses, Hayley and Emma, from the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston as part of our regular myth-busting sessions, which are organised by our fantastic careers team.

Hayley and Emma delivered an informative assembly for Year 10 and an interactive workshop for Years 10 and 11 to help our students explore the plethora of careers available in the NHS.

In the assembly, Hayley and Emma discussed the four core areas of Nursing, Adult, Children’s, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, and illustrated the qualifications required for the various pathways that lead to a Nursing career.

For our Year 10 and Year 11 students who were interested in finding out more about Nursing, the workshop allowed students to perform hands-on activities such as taking blood pressure and vital statistics and giving CPR to a baby. They learnt what to do if a baby or child is choking and had opportunity to use equipment such as the varying size of canular and oxygen masks.

Our students also had the opportunity to ask the Paediatric Nurses questions throughout the workshop and there was a Kahoot quiz to test their knowledge.
