Spalding Academy achieve record-breaking GCSE and BTEC results

Students and staff at Spalding Academy are celebrating another set of exceptional examination results, having achieved their highest set of GCSE and vocational results this year.

Exam outcomes have indicated that Spalding Academy has once again performed exceptionally well in both the academic and vocational pathways across all subject areas. Furthermore, this year’s data indicates further improvement from the last set of validated results in 2019.

The school has been on an incredible journey of rapid improvement, and this outstanding set of results shows how far the school has come, since the school joining South Lincolnshire Academies Trust.

These record-breaking results highlights the dedication and determination of the students and staff at Spalding Academy.

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Lucy Conley said “This set of results demonstrates the incredible hard work of our students and staff, and reflects the students’ hard work and commitment to their studies. Staff in the school go above and beyond to support and prepare their student for their exams, including through regular intervention sessions during lunchtime and after school; offering revision crammer sessions and by offering a full programme of exam intervention support during the Easter and May half term.

The anticipated drop in national GCSE and BTEC results that was speculated on in the press, is certainly not the case for Spalding Academy! We are all extremely happy with this set of results.

I am also extremely proud to share that all of the other three schools in the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, being Bourne Academy, Cowley Academy and Giles Academy have also shown continued improvement this year, compared to the last validated data in 2019. They have performed exceptionally well in the GCSE and BTEC results this summer, which demonstrates the success of the Trust and reflects the drive and commitment of school leaders and the staff who want to offer students in Lincolnshire the best opportunities possible and aspire to be the best they can be.

I would like to wish all of our amazing young people all the very best for their future and I hope they will keep in touch with the school in the future.”

Mrs Jemma Curson, Head of School at Spalding Academy said “I am delighted with our students record breaking GCSE results. Since I joined Spalding Academy as Head of School last year, it quickly became apparent that our Year 11 cohort were incredibly hardworking and determined to achieve their very best.

I would like to thank our staff who always go above and beyond to support our young people. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard to uphold our extremely high standards and achieve this record set of remarkable grades. Our school community deserve these superb results!

There are a record number of students remaining in the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, by progressing to the SLAT Sixth Form at Bourne Academy in September. I wish all our students the very best in the next phase of their educational endeavours whether this be A-levels, vocational courses or an apprenticeship.

Spalding Academy has outperformed its last set of externally validated examination data, from 2019. I am particularly proud of the number of top grade 9’s achieved this year. This top grade has been designed to recognise the very highest performing students across the country. This year our students have reached the highest number of these top grades. This is absolutely amazing and well done to all.”
