Spalding compete in Lincolnshire 7’s Boys Rugby Tournament
We had two teams of eager rugby players travel to Market Rasen to represent Spalding Academy and compete in the Lincolnshire 7’s Boys Rugby Tournament, which involved 16 schools from across the county.
The students took part in two competitions with the younger boys team consisting of Year 7 and Year 8 students. They performed brilliantly as they progressed through to the shield competition and out of 16 teams they achieved 6th place, which is an excellent achievement. Our Year 9 team also fought hard in every game and played matches against grammar schools who play rugby competitively weekly.
Mr Favell and Miss Pearce, Teachers of PE said “The boys have trained hard all year attending our rugby club after school every Tuesday and for many of them it was the first season playing rugby. Our students were a real credit to the school and represented the values of rugby well demonstrating respect and teamwork.”
