MP visit inspires students about careers in politics
Sir John Hayes MP with Mrs Jemma Curson (Head of School), Miss Sam Grant (Careers Co-ordinator) and Year 11 students
Our local MP, Sir John Hayes visited Spalding Academy last term and spent the whole morning meeting students and staff at the school.
A group of our Year 11 students had an amazing opportunity to speak to the MP about the various careers available in politics and law plus discover the career path that led Sir John Hayes to representing South Holland and The Deepings. It was eye-opening for the students to realise how diverse a job it is being an MP and how they split their time working at Parliament and helping their local constituents.
During his visit, Sir John Hayes met with Mrs Lucy Conley, Executive Headteacher and Mrs Jemma Curson, Head of School to find out how Spalding Academy has continually improved and for the school to share the exciting plans for the £4 million redevelopment project with new classrooms, drama block plus much more.
The MP has always been extremely supportive of Spalding Academy since it joined South Lincolnshire Academies Trust and it has been reassuring that he continues to champion what a fantastic school we have.
