Building work underway for music block extension

All of arts including music and performing arts are key subjects on the school curriculum. They develop creativity, confidence and teamwork as well as being enjoyable subjects that can also lead to many career paths.

With Spalding Academy set to increase the number of students by 30 students every year for the next five years, we are building for the future and expanding many facilities for our students.

Part of these plans is an extension of the music department in J Block, that will incorporate a new large classroom, practice rooms and a music recording studio. This will mean we can offer music at KS4 as well as KS3 to give all students the opportunity to take part in lessons.

As you can see on the photos below, the groundworks and foundations have been put in place, which shows how the footprint of the new building is increasing.

With the music department having its own dedicated teaching block, this means that students can play knowing they will not interrupt teaching taking place in other areas of the school.

The work is expected to be completed in Spring 2022 so will also in place for the increase of new students starting September 2022.
