The word has spread about the generosity of our parents, staff and the local community when Sean Dunderdale from the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Breakfast Show interviewed Mrs Mihaela Lammin (Year 11 Lead at Spalding Academy) and Miss Francine Lynas (Year 11 Lead at Bourne Academy) live on air this morning.

Since Spalding Academy and Bourne Academy launched their Prom Wardrobe and Prom Outlet initiatives earlier this term by asking for donations of prom dresses, suits and accessories for our students to wear at their forthcoming proms, we have been overwhelmed with the amount of donations received.

Not only have we been inundated with donations, but we have been impressed by the quality of the items received as it will definitely make our students look and feel amazing on the evening. Whilst it can help students and families financially, it also helps the environment by encouraging ‘fashion recycling’ quality items of clothing that might have only been worn a few times and taking up space in the wardrobe.

Mrs Mihaela Lammin, Year 11 Lead at Spalding Academy said “Our Year 11 students are humbled by the generosity of their community and already planning to return it with kind little gestures. They learnt a very important lesson from it and helped them as young people to be grateful for such unity.”

If you would like to make a donation of prom dress, suit or accessories such as shoes, bags, bow ties and cummerbunds, see www.spaldingacademy.org.uk/prom-wardrobe-initiative-seeks-donations
