The school musical for 2023 will be… School of Rock

We are delighted to announce the school musical production for 2023 will be ‘School of Rock’. This smash hit musical will be bringing roof-raising energy to the stage at Spalding Academy from Wednesday 5th July to Friday 7th July 2023 with three evening performances.

Our amazing principal cast has been confirmed (as below and pictured above) and they will be joined on stage with an extensive cast of students with acting, singing and dancing roles.

• Savannah Hughes (Year 9) plays Dewey Finn
• Lucy Wilson (Year 11) plays Rosalie Mullins
• James Dodds (Year 10) plays Ned Schneebly
• Daisy Holmes (Year 11) plays Patty Di Marco
• Amelia Legood (Year 8) plays Summer (Band Manager)

The musical will be directed by Miss Freddie Clarke, Head of Performing Arts at Spalding Academy who will be supported by Mr Matt Horner who is Assistant Director and Shannon Gay (Year 11) who is Student Director. Mr Stephen Barratt, Head of Music will be leading the band to ensure the production has a mind-blowing and energetic soundtrack and Miss Lillianna Armstrong will be working on all vocal elements of the production. Behind-the-scenes there will be the all-important student production crew and technical team who are led by Hollie Philpott (Year 9).

Based on the hilarious hit movie featuring Jack Black, this new musical version follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious school. After identifying the musical talent in his straight A students, Dewey forms a band in an attempt to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands contest.

Anyone who came to any of the sell-out Playbill performances in June 2022 will know that the Performing Arts and Music departments at Spalding Academy put on an amazing production so you will definitely want to see ‘School of Rock’.
