State of the art recording facilities for BTEC music students

We recognise the importance of having industry standard recording facilties for our students to get the most out of their subject aad prepare them for their future careers.

Our Year 11 BTEC music students were able to get hands on with this specialist recording equipment as part of their BTEC course where they were required to create and release their own album. For this task, students chose to carry out a full multitrack recording session to capture a detailed sound of their drummer.

The new recording studio, which opened earlier this academic year, allowed students to fully microphone the drum kit in the practice room. The sound is then carried through to the recording studio, into the mixing desk and recorded into the computer. There are four separate practice rooms that can all connect to the studio meaning that performers can be recorded all four rooms simultaneously.

The group will be releasing their two-track album later this year and submitting this as their final project on the BTEC music course.

The recording facilities are available for students to use at the school. If students would like to book a recording session they can contact Mr Barrett, Head of Music at Spalding Academy.
