Team Spalding flying high to win Superzone Trampoline Competition

A group of eight talented gymnasts from Years 7 and 8 represented Spalding Academy last week by taking part in the annual South Lincolnshire KS3 Trampoline Superzone Competition, which was held at University Academy Long Sutton.

Our students took part in the novice category, where there were 63 competitors from local schools. This involved the students performing a set solo routine in front of all competitors and were judged based on their individual performances.

For many of our students, this was their first ever trampolining competition so were a little nervous as they didn’t know what to expect. After a few practice attempts it was time to compete and all students completed their 10 bounce routine to their best ability.

The Superzone competition is a team sport where the top five individual scores are added together to give an overall team score.

Spalding Academy were awarded first place overall and beat second place by 15 marks. Oliwia Kuchta, Mollie Bennett and Megan Farrar scored the three highest score of the entire day, beating students who competed in the other categories!

  • 1st – Oliwia Kuchta (Year 8)
  • 2nd – Mollie Bennett (Year 7)
  • 3rd – Megan Farrar (Year 8)
  • 6th – Austeja Samkute (Year 7)
  • 7th – Matilda Motley-Webber (Year 7)
  • 16th – Jess Roberts (Year 8)
  • 24th – Liberty Moore (Year 7)
  • 55th – Isla Pattinson (Year 8)

Miss Ringrose, Teacher of PE said “It was an incredible day out and all students should be proud of their achievements. The judges commented on how well presented our students looked in their leotards and overall appearance.”
