Year 7 Football Team through to Quarter Finals of County Cup

Our Year 7 Boys Football Team is full of confidence after booking their place in the Quarter Finals of the County Cup after an emphatic win.

The County Cup consists of teams from secondary schools all across Lincolnshire and the team had already beaten Somercotes Academy from near Louth in the previous round of the competition.

This set up a difficult tie against The Priory Pembroke Academy from Lincoln who they managed to secure a brilliant 8-3 win against.

The students played extremely well throughout the game, taking an early 3-0 lead, but a lapse in concentration allowed Pembroke Academy to score two quick goals. The students regained their focus and showed excellent teamwork to score another five goals in the second half to secure their place in the next round.

The goals were shared around the team with Alex C grabbing a hat-trick, Harry C scoring a brace and Kayden U, Riley G and Alan N all getting in on the action with a goal apiece.

Mr Munton, Teacher of PE at Spalding Academy said “I am extremely proud of the maturity and sportsmanship shown from our Year 7 students. They represented the school impeccably and we will be looking forward to the next round which will be drawn very soon.”
