Bands and soloists battle it out in the House Music Competition

Students from each of the Houses took to the stage at Spalding Academy last night for the return of our ‘House Music Competition’ where 12 acts performed in front of a live audience of family and friends.
The standard of performances on the evening was exceptional with one soloist performance and one band performance to represent each House. There were a variety music genres covered from pop to rock and dance to indie featuring songs by Green Day, Harry Stiles, Lady Gaga and Lewis Capaldi.
As you would expect, there was a strict judging criteria, which was taken very seriously and done fairly as scores were awarded for confidence, technical skill and audience response. The judging panel (pictured below) consisted of Mrs Curson, Head of School along with Mr Wood, Trust Director of Performance & Creative Arts and Mr Bamber, Trust Associate Education Director who had the unenviable task of picking the winners.

With the hall packed with family and friends to lend their support to the students and there was a great atmosphere for the students to perform in. As audience response was part of the judging scores, they were clapping and singing along to support their Houses and their favourite performances.
We are pleased to announce that the winning House was Johnson House and Mr Kelly, Head of Johnson House was very proud of his acts. Well done to all of the students and acts who performed and make it a fantastic evening of entertainment.
A special mention goes to Mr Barrett, Head of Music, Miss Armstrong, Teacher of Music and Miss Sanderson, Teacher of Music for organising the event and working with our students on their songs and performances.
