Bands and soloists battle it out in the House Music Competition
Students from each of the Houses took to the stage at Spalding Academy last night for the return of our ‘House Music Competition’ where 12 acts performed in front of a live audience of family and friends.
The standard of performances on the evening was exceptional with one soloist performance and one band performance to represent each House. There was a variety music genres covered from pop to rock and dance to indie.
As you would expect, there was a strict judging criteria, which was taken very seriously and done fairly as scores were awarded for confidence, technical skill and audience response. The judging panel (pictured below) consisted of Mrs Jemma Curson, Head of School along with Mr Alan Wood, Trust Director of Arts & Community Projects and Miss Victoria Kilby, Teacher of Music from Cowley Academy who had the unenviable task of picking the winners.
With the hall packed with family and friends to lend their support to the students, there was a great atmosphere for the students to perform in. As audience response was part of the judging scores, they were clapping and singing along to support their Houses and their favourite performances.
We are pleased to announce that the winners were Johnson House. Well done to all of the students and acts who performed and make it a fantastic evening of entertainment.
As special mention goes to Mr Stephen Barrett, Head of Music and Miss Lillianna Armstrong, Teacher of Music for organising the event and working with our students on their songs and performances.
