Year 9 Boys Basketball team are crowned Superzone Champions
A massive congratulations to the Year 9 Boys Basketball team who were crowned Superzone Champions after beating Haven High Academy in the Superzone final!
On the way to reaching the final, they firstly won the South Division league as they demonstrated strong defensive efforts along with great resilience, which become key to their success.
The basketball season started in November 2025 and the team had many notable successes on their way to winning the league, including a 21-6 victory against Spalding Grammar School and beating Bourne Grammar School 33-6.
In their last league match against University Academy Holbeach, they knew they had to win by five clear points, and the team capitalised on the situation by showing brilliant motivation to win the game 31-22 and finish top of the South Division plus earn their spot in the Superzone final.
In the final against Haven High Academy (who won the North Division), it was a tense start as the boys were trailing by just one point at half time. The group then showed their outstanding determination to battle back and clinch victory by winning 20-16 in a match where both teams raised their game and delivered a very high standard of basketball.
Mr Campling, Teacher of PE said “The team have shown brilliant attitude and effort throughout the season, improving performances game on game. The core group of eight students, have consistently attended extra-curricular sessions as well as displaying an inspirational love for the sport, that has seen their effort rewarded. The team are looking forward to defending their title next year when they are in Year 10.”
