Students celebrate GCSE and vocational exam success

Students and staff at Spalding Academy are celebrating yet another fantastic year of academic and vocational success with highly impressive results across the diverse curriculum of 22 different GCSE and BTEC subjects.
In addition to English and Mathematics, the top four subjects where students have achieved grades 7 or above are Digital Information Technology, Music, Performing Arts and Sport Science. Other subjects where there have been a notable increase in grades 9 to 5 are English Language, Mathematics and Combined Science Trilogy.
Mrs Lucy Conley, Chief Executive Officer said “This year, the outstanding results has meant there is a record number of students from Spalding Academy who will be progressing to the SLAT Sixth Form at Bourne Academy.”
One of those students is Savannah Hughes who achieved grade 9’s in English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography plus a Distinction* in Performing Arts and a Distinction in Music. She achieved these impressive results whilst being Head Student and starring as the lead in school musicals. She will studying A-level Chemistry, A-level Psychology, BTEC Music Performance and BTEC Performing Arts at the Bourne Academy Sixth Form.
The GCSE and BTEC results at Spalding Academy highlights the strength of the quality of education as noted by Ofsted inspectors in April 2025 where the school had continued to improve ‘every area’ of the school. The Ofsted report stated that “students study a broad and ambitious curriculum where in each subject, it is clear what students will learn and when” and “students have excellent attitudes to learning and they engage well with learning activities and show resilience when work is more demanding.”
The impressive GCSE and Vocational grades have been replicated across every school that are part of South Lincolnshire Academies Trust and reflects how well students are fully supported. The continued progress of the summer examination results at Spalding Academy highlights the strength of the quality of education and the wide variety of initiatives that students have been eager to take advantage of.
Spalding Academy have offered extra revision sessions during the Easter and May Half Term holidays, where students choose additional two-hour lessons on specific subjects. In term time, during lunchtimes and after-school, subject staff have provided homework and revision clubs as part of their enrichment programmes. The Trust has also invested in online learning resources that students have been able to utilise as part of their revision tools. This dedication to go above and beyond has ensured students can be rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
Mrs Lucy Conley added “This set of results is a testament to the incredible hard work of our students and staff, and reflects the students’ hard work and commitment to their studies. As a Trust with non-selective schools, I am immensely proud of the achievements of every single student who have grown into amazing young people with bright futures. The results across all the schools that are part of South Lincolnshire Academies Trust demonstrates our commitment to school improvement, and we offer students in Lincolnshire the best opportunities possible and help them to aspire to be the best they can be. I wish all our students the very best in the next phase of their educational endeavours whether this be Sixth Form, College or an apprenticeship.”
