Young musicians perform, produce, engineer and run an entire show

On Wednesday evening this week, over 50 of our budding musicians and stage crew had the incredible experience to perform, produce and engineer and entire music concert for our EVOLVE Project.
This is one of the many highlights in the music calendar at Spalding Academy and gives opportunities for students from all year groups and all abilities to get involved in music and the creative arts.
For some of these students, this was the first time performing in front of a live audience and it was impressive how they put their nerves aside and delivered fantastic performances that they should be very proud of.
We were treated to bands and solo acts performing a set list packed with pop, rock and indie songs. Not only are our students talented musicians, but also emerging songwriters as we can say “we were there” when we heard an original song called “My Lilac Girl”, which was written and performed by Amelia Legood in Year 11.
What made the night even more special is that the concert was SOLD OUT in advance, so the school hall was completed packed with a fantastic audience of family, friends and even former students who enjoyed a night out to support our musicians.
Miss Armstrong, Head of Music said “Giving students opportunities like this allows them to explore their creativity, work together as a team, and learn skills that go far beyond the rehearsal room. Watching all of that effort come together on stage is incredibly rewarding, and it’s a joy to see their confidence and talents grow.”
Mr Martin, Head of School said “A special thank you goes to Miss Armstrong and Miss Kilby for supporting our amazing students. The Music Department always go above and beyond to support our musicians and this was a superb opportunity for them to experience a live performance in front an a large audience.”
