Livery design shortlisted in national Alpine Formula 1 competition

Our Science department gave the opportunity for our students to enter a national competition run by STEM on Track and Alpine Formula One, where they could design the livery for a racing kart.

The winning entry for Spalding Academy was designed by Lauren Lenton in Year 9 and this was submitted to be considered for the national competition. We were therefore ecstatic to hear that Lauren’s fantastic design was shortlisted in the top 10 out of over 150 schools who entered.

The judges were really impressed with how this colourful and imaginative design featured a representation of STEM and the environment by incorporating wind turbines and how the school and local area was included by featuring the school motto of ‘Aspire, Challenge, Achieve’ and using tulips to represent Spalding.

As a reward for being in the top 10, Lauren and her family were invited to attend the STEM on Track grand finals in Northamptonshire, where representatives from Alpine F1 judged the livery competition. She got to meet organisers and had a VIP pass to go behind the scenes and watch the races.

Miss Davis, Teacher of Science said “It was a fantastic achievement for Lauren to be chosen as one of the finalists out of all schools nationally. The reward for Lauren and her family to have a great day meeting the Alpine F1 representatives and watching the finals of the STEM on Track race competition is very well deserved.”
