Year 9 Boys Futsal Team into the last 16 of the County Cup

Our Year 9 Boys Futsal Team have their sights set on silverware this season after progressing into the last 16 of the County Cup with a resounding 12-0 win against Walton Academy. They will be playing Somercoates Academy (near Louth) in the next round.

The team have also been displayed positive progress already this season by coming third in the U14s South Lincolnshire County Futsal Competition earlier this month. They played ten games in the tournament winning four games and drew three games and narrowly missed out on the finals by just two points.

Futsal is similar to 5-a-side indoor football but uses a smaller and heavier ball making it a fast paced and skilful game. Playing Futsal can also develop close control ball techniques which can improve performance when playing traditional football.

Mr Favell, Teacher of PE at Spalding Academy said “The tournament was a brand new format for them to play in and they all did incredibly well and represented the school impeccably. I have high hopes for this team pushing for league and county glory this year.”
