Increase in top A-level grades at Bourne Academy Sixth Form

Students at Bourne Academy Sixth Form have been celebrating their achievements with an outstanding set of exam results with 54% of A-level and BTEC qualifications being the equivalent of grades A* to A.

The SLAT Sixth Form at Bourne Academy offers different study pathways where students can study A-levels only, BTECs only or a combination of both.

There has been a 7% increase in the overall grades achieved compared to 2023 with 88% of student grades achieved being equivalent to A* to C grades with a 99% pass rate across all exams.

The top grades for A-level subjects have improved compared to 2023, with a 2% increase in A* to A, a 5% increase in A* to B and a 6% increase in A* to C. There were notable successes for specific A-level subjects with 71% of History students achieving A* to B, 70% of English Literature students achieving A* to B and 64% of Psychology students A* to B.

For the BTEC qualifications, an outstanding 92% of grades achieved were Distinction* to Merit (equivalent to A* or C grade at A-level). Students studying Music Performance hit the right note where 100% achieved Distinction* (equivalent to A* at A-level); 90% of Sport & Physical Activity students achieved Distinction* or Distinction and 81% of Health & Social Care students achieved Distinction* or Distinction.

Due to consistently achieving outstanding results, the SLAT Sixth Form is continuing to grow and will be welcoming a record number of new students joining the Sixth Form in September from secondary schools across the region.
