Rising star is selected for the England Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) Squad

We are immensely proud that Will Genever in Year 8 has been selected for the England National Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) Squad in just his first season of competing in the sport.

Competing for Abbey High Fliers Trampoline Club in Crowland, Will has already been crowned ‘National Challenge Cup Champion’ and the ‘National Finals Champion’ for both DMT and Trampolining.

This is a remarkable achievement for the young athlete who has impressed his coaches after having an extraordinary season representing his club and the East Midlands region.

These victories placed him firmly on the radar of national selectors, leading to his shortlisting – and ultimately his official England call‑up.

Will is no stranger to the sport of gymnastics as before he started trampolining, he was previously a talented gymnast having become County Champion for four consecutive years. Unfortunately, his boys gymnastics squad was disbanded, so rather than give up, Will decided to start trampolining and used all the skills he learnt as a gymnast and transferred these to a new sport. This decision has certainly paid off as Will has made a perfect flying start in this new discipline.

Everyone at Spalding Academy wishes Will all the best and fully support him for what will be a demanding season ahead as he travels for training and competitions in the UK and overseas. This will involve attending national training sessions in Manchester throughout the year, a week-long training camp in Germany in August 2026 and an international competition in Portugal in October 2026.
