There has been much excitement this week as our students love there is a brand-new minibus so they can travel in comfort.
A minibus plays an important part in the day to day life of the school, whether that is attending sports matches and activities or being used for curriculum trips and visits. When there are overseas trips it can also be used for airport runs. By having the minibus branded ensures we can positively promote the school in the community and the local area.
The brand-new minibus can seat up to 16 students so is perfect for team sports. It has a wheelchair ramp at the rear and secure space for a wheelchair as four seats can be easily be removed. This can also provide flexible space for carrying large equipment or luggage.
There is CCTV inside the minibus to monitor students and protect personal belongings plus it is equipped with a DAB digital radio that is beneficial for long trips. There is plenty of overhead storage for students to keep their bags.
Extra safety features are included with technology that alerts the driver if changing lane, a reversing video camera, an emergency exit roof as well a fire extinguisher and first aid kit.
Michael Duggan, Head of PE at Spalding Academy said “We have a diverse range of sports teams which includes football, hockey, netball, rugby, basketball, athletics and gymnastics where some of these activities may take place after school and at weekends as well as during the school day. The minibus is vital as we compete against other schools across Lincolnshire so it is great for the students to travel in comfort, safely and reliably ensuring they are able to compete at their very best.”
