Preparing Year 11 students for their post-16 education
Our Careers Team take pride in the support and advice they provide both individually and collectively with our Year 11 students. Whilst our students are working hard towards their final GCSE exams, students like to have an end goal in mind and a clear picture of where they could be studying when they finish their studies this summer.
As part of our transition work we hold assemblies, workshops, invite guest speakers and also run small trips to colleges for students that are unable to make the Open Evenings.
Last week, the careers team arranged for a select group of students to visit Boston College where staff spoke to them about applications, the support in place, day-to-day life at college and the vocational courses from Level 1 to Level 3 on offer. Students then had a tour of the college campus to visit the Catering, Childcare, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care and Mechanical Engineering departments.
Miss Sam Grant, Careers & Student Progression Coordinator at Spalding Academy said “It was great to see our students engage and be inspired by the possibilities available. We can safely say that the students left feeling positive about what is next in their educational journey. The mocktail making and cakes supplied by the catering team were definitely a highlight of the visit!”
