Gymnasts reach new heights in the Regional Trampoline Championships

Two of our talented trampolining students were representing Spalding Academy this month when Will Genever in Year 7 and Karolina Uzpelke in Year 10 travelled to Hinckley to take part in the first round of the East Midlands Schools Regional Trampoline Championships. The competition is split into various categories and each performer has two individual routines to perform in front of a panel of judges.

Will Genever was performing in the ‘Year 7 to 9 Elite’ category, which sees the performers twisting and rotating in a number of directions. Will executed his routines superbly and took to the podium in 1st place and was awarded ‘Regional Champion’. The next competition for Will is the Zonal Championships in January 2025 where he will compete for a space in the Regional Finals and everyone at Spalding Academy wishes him the very best of luck.

Karolina Uzpelke was competing in the most popular category in the competition, which was the ‘Year 10 to 14 Novice’ and this meant that Karolina was the youngest performer in this category and was also competing against Sixth Form students. She finished in a superb 10th position standing her in good stead as she moves through the year groups.

This is the first year we have entered this prestigious competition and we look forward to more students entering next year as trampolining continues to grow within the school.
