Spalding Academy achieve record-breaking GCSE results

Spalding Academy is celebrating today after achieving their highest set of GCSE and vocational results.

The school has been on an incredible journey of rapid improvement, and this outstanding set of results shows how far the school has come, since the school joined the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust.

These record-breaking results highlights the dedication and determination of the students and staff at Spalding Academy, especially as the Year 11 students have been through such a turbulent time in their educational journey due the Covid pandemic.

Mrs Jemma Curson, Head of School at Spalding Academy said “I am delighted with our students record breaking GCSE results. Since I joined Spalding Academy as Head of School in April 2022, it quickly became apparent that our Year 11 cohort were incredibly hardworking and determined to achieve their very best.

I would like to thank our staff who always go above and beyond to support our young people. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard to uphold our extremely high standards and achieve this record set of remarkable grades. Our school community deserve these superb results!

Spalding Academy has outperformed its last set of externally validated examination data, from 2019. All of our department areas have made significant improvements. I am particularly proud of the number of top grade 9’s achieved this year. This top grade has been designed to recognise the very highest performing students across the country. This year our students have reached the highest number of these top grades. This is absolutely amazing and well done to all.”

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust Executive Headteacher, Mrs Lucy Conley commented “After what has been an unsettling time for all students nationally, with periods of remote learning and the incredible hard work needed to catch up on any lost learning due to the pandemic, the results for Spalding Academy well reflect the students hard work and commitment to their studies. We are all extremely happy with this set of results, and the anticipated drop in results that was speculated on in the press, is certainly not the case for Spalding Academy!

I am also extremely proud to share that all three schools in the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, being Spalding Academy, Bourne Academy and Giles Academy have recorded their highest set of GCSE and BTEC results this summer, which demonstrates the success of the Trust and reflects the drive and commitment of school leaders and the staff to want to offer students in Lincolnshire the best opportunities possible and aspire to be the best they can be.

I would like to wish all of our amazing young people all the very best for their future and I hope they will keep in touch with the school in the future.”
