Record results achieved at Bourne Academy Sixth Form
Students at Bourne Academy Sixth Form have celebrated their achievements with 100% pass rate and the highest set of Sixth Form results the school has ever recorded for both A-level and BTEC qualifications.
The Sixth Form has continuously improved both A-level and BTEC results every year since 2018, even during the period of lockdown.
This year, 26% of students achieved A-level grades A* – A and 81% achieved grades A* – C. For the BTEC qualifications, an outstanding 79% of students achieved Distinction* or Distinction grades, which is equivalent to A* – A grades at A-level.
With an expanded curriculum, the Sixth Form at Bourne Academy has grown significantly with a 24% increase in the number of students from 2021 to 2022 with students coming from Bourne Academy; Spalding Academy and other local secondary schools across the region.
South Lincolnshire Academies Trust Executive Headteacher Mrs Lucy Conley commented: “This year has been a real success for students who have studied at Bourne Academy and we are incredibly pleased to announce an exceptional and once again improved set of A-level and BTEC examination results for 2022.
There was some speculation in the press over the past few days regarding what the results for the 2022 student cohort would look like, with schools expected to generally accept that grades will take a hit this year, following an exceptional two years for schools due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this has certainly not been the case for Bourne Academy and we are extremely proud that results are the highest they have ever been. For both A Level and BTEC qualifications we have yet again seen a 100% pass rate, which is particularly pleasing.
These very good results realistically reflect the hard work of the students and staff, and prove that any gaps in learning were addressed at a time when there has been some uncertainty surrounding examinations and school results nationally. I would like to share that we are extremely proud of how all of our Sixth Form students have conducted themselves over the past two years, including a period of remote learning during the pandemic. Their attitudes and support for the situation they have found themselves in has been exemplary. We wish all of our Sixth Form group all the very best for the future and we have encouraged them all to keep in touch with us at Bourne Academy.”
Mr Matt Sammy, Head of School at Bourne Academy said “It has been a pleasure to see the joy and relief on the faces of our students today. On behalf of the students, I would like to pass on my thanks to the Sixth Form team and teaching staff who have ensured our students received guidance and support throughout their entire Sixth Form journey. The impressive achievements have meant the vast majority of students achieved their first-choice university or apprenticeship offers and we know they are fully prepared to succeed in their future careers.”
