Our amazing cast of over 65 students delivered captivating performances on the stage at Spalding Academy with sell out performances of the hit musical ‘Romeo + Juliet’.
The audience were treated to three outstanding shows featuring captivating stage presence, fantastic vocals plus perfect choreography and delivery, which was complemented by our incredible pit band. The students and staff working behind the scenes helped ensure that there was a seamless transition from scene-to-scene.
Based on the classic story of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this modern reimagining was set in a graffiti covered modern-day city of Verona Beach and featured politics, social media, gang and knife crime, but the heart of the story was about who two people meet and fall in love.
There was music spanning across the decades as the performances included a fantastic soundtrack with hits from Madonna, Fleetwood Mac and Oasis to help retell and modernise ‘the greatest love story of all time’.
Miss Freddie Clarke, Head of Performing Arts said “This production is the result of an incredibly hard-working and talented cast who have poured their energy, passion, and trust into this vision. I’m endlessly proud of what they’ve created. A special shout-out goes to our phenomenal Year 11 students – we’ll miss you deeply, but we know you’re destined for even greater stages ahead. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to this show and to our school community.”
A special mention goes to the staff in the Performing Arts and Music departments who have dedicated so much time and effort to ensure that the performances were outstanding. We would like to thank everyone involved as all of the students were amazing.
We hope that everyone who came to any of the performances enjoyed the show and are looking forward to our next production in 2026.
