School of Rock is a musical hit with sell out performances
Our amazing cast of over 70 students brought roof-raising energy to the stage at Spalding Academy with sell out performances of the hit musical ‘School of Rock’.
The audience were treated to three outstanding shows featuring captivating stage presence, fantastic vocals plus perfect choreography and delivery, which was complemented by our incredible band. The students and staff working behind the scenes helped ensure that there was a seamless transition from scene-to-scene and the standard of every act was ‘first class’.
Based on the hilarious hit movie featuring Jack Black, this new musical version followed Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious school. After identifying the musical talent in his straight A students, Dewey forms a band in an attempt to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands contest.
Miss Freddie Clarke, Head of Performing Arts said “Both cast and crew have worked remarkably hard on this production and our common goal is that for a few hours of your time, to feel lost in the magic of Musical Theatre. ‘The School of Rock’ teaches us to understand acceptance and how to break the boundaries of stereotypes. I would like to thank everyone involved to create an experience our students to remember forever.”
A special mention goes to Miss Clarke, Mr Horner, Mr Barrett and Miss Armstrong from the Performing Arts and Music departments who have dedicated so much time and effort to ensure that the performances were outstanding.
We hope that everyone who came to any of the performances enjoyed the show and are looking forward to our next production in 2024.
