Spalding win Superzone Trampoline Competition for a second year
A group of 11 talented gymnasts from Years 7 and 8 represented Spalding Academy by taking part in the annual South Lincolnshire KS3 Trampoline Superzone Competition.
On the day, there were 85 gymnasts competing from local schools, which meant that our students had to perform at their very best to have a chance of winning the competition for the second year in the row.
This did not phase our students as they produced stunning solo routines in front of the judges, who awarded Spalding students first and second place in both the Year 7 and Year 8 age categories.
Emily Turner was first in the Year 7 category having achieved the highest score of the day with Connie Hammond in second place. In the Year 8 category Matilda Motley-Webber was awarded first place and Austeja Samkute achieved second place.
The Superzone competition is a team sport where the top individual scores are added together to give an overall team score. This meant that Team Spalding were awarded first place overall for a second successive year!
Miss Ringrose, Teacher of PE said “Our students had a fantastic day and for many of our Year 7’s this was their first ever trampoline competition. They were all incredibly well behaved and a credit to our school.”
