Year 7 pitched against Year 8 in 7-a-side Football Tournament

As a reward for the students attending the weekly football training sessions after school on Monday evenings, the B squads in Year 7 and Year 8 were pitched up against each other for a mini football tournament.

The Year 7 squad managed by Mr Munton and the Year 8 squad managed by Mr Billinghurst and Mr Knight were split into four teams in their year groups. All teams played four games as they played each other in the group, with the top two playing in a final and the other two teams completing in a 3rd place play off.

Both Year 7 and Year 8 are evenly matched as the tournament had brilliant saves, last ditch tackles, late equalisers and tournament winning strikes. It was a fantastic evening of football for all the players to get competition experience.

Mr Ian Billinghurst, Assistant Headteacher said “The tournament was played with a fantastic spirit by all. It was refereed superbly by Year 10 Sports Leader Oliver and thank you to Beartie, Oli, Corey and Aidan for coaching the Year 8 teams. Well done to all involved.”
