Science Fair feature stands and experiments run by young scientists
To develop a passion for Science, we run an amazing after-school Science Club for Year 7 and Year 8 where they have been creating and practicing experiments using everyday items you could find in the home.
To showcase what our students have learnt, they held a lunchtime ‘Science Fair’ to coincide with British Science Week, which was open for students from all years to attend.
The special event was organised by Miss Davis, Teacher of Science & STEM Lead who tasked the students to create their own science stands featuring different experiments that were accompanied by posters designed by students. The fascinating range of experiments included the use of tea bags, Skittles and a tin can demonstrating how everyday items you can find at home can be used in science.
All of the activities have been plenty of fun for staff and students, plus it has been great to see how engaged and inspired students from all year groups have been. Mr Martin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer was eager to get involved and safely demonstrated the impressive methane bubbles experiment.
The Science Club is run by Mrs Davis and Mrs Clark and takes place after-school on Thursdays in room G17 for Years 7 and 8 students. New members are welcome to join the club and develop their interest in Science in a fun and engaging way.
